Job Description

Engine Re-builder/Field Technician MTU 4000 (Tucson, AZ):
($25-35/hr based upon experience and certifications, relocation assistance and sign-on bonus available for qualified candidates).
W.W. Williams is currently hiring experienced Diesel Technicians to rebuild and service heavy mine equipment diesel engines in TUCSON, AZ.   Diesel Technician is required to perform rebuild service on MTU 4000 and other brands of heavy equipment engines. Individual should have strong diagnostic and repair skills. Duties will include the overall rebuilding and reconditioning of MTU 4000 diesel engines and Field Service repairs on other components to including these functions
  • Troubleshooting, cleaning, disassembling, evaluation, determine repairs and parts needed in accordance with manufacturers re-usability guidelines.
  • Create job plan based on diagnosis to include repair operations and anticipated repair hours need to complete repair.
  • Rebuilding engines from disassembly to re-assembly and dyno testing.
  • Requires ability to work independently in performing repairs and maintenance, including strong knowledge of diesel engines, and electronics.
  • Preparing inspection, troubleshooting and teardown reports.
  • Organize, clean, and maintain a safe work area.
  • Communicating effectively with Service Planner, and Supervisors to insure problems, nature of the repair, and status of those repairs are understood and followed up on
Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Qualified candidates must have 3+ years of successful hands-on experience with MTU diesel engines, diagnostics, and be very experienced with the latest electronically controlled machines.
  • MTU experience is a must!
  • Must be able to fully comprehend and electrical schematics with a history of successful troubleshooting and technical experience.
  • Must maintain daily service reports, equipment status reports, Competent in MS Excel / Word / Outlook (email) for technical questions with equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Valid State Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
